During this year’s Haringey Community Expo, we were recognised for our work earlier on in the year for Loneliness Awareness Week.
We were recognised at the 2023 Haringey Community Expo for hosting and running the Connection Matters Conference as part of this year’s Loneliness Awareness Week, where we brought policy makers, professionals and the public together to tackle this issue of loneliness at a local level. Through our Reach and Connect service (delivered in partnership with Mind in Haringey and Vibrance) we drew attention to social isolation and loneliness throughout the week and continue to actively support the ageing well agenda in Haringey.
Dan Rogers, CEO of Public Voice, said: “We’re delighted to be recognised for our work to bring out seldom heard voices, and create stronger community connections in Haringey. Inclusion is one of our core values, so to be commended in this category is very welcome – and a testament to the positive work of our team, our partners, and the wider community in the borough.”
The annual Expo, organised by The Bridge Renewal Trust, is a celebration of the outstanding work and achievements of Haringey’s volunteers, community groups, voluntary organisations and schools.
Taking place at Tottenham Green Pools & Fitness Centre, the space was filled with stalls from different organisations from around the borough, all carrying out important work to improve the lives of Haringey residents.
Public Voice had three stalls on the day, which included Haringey Reach and Connect; Haringey Advice Partnership; and the Joint Partnership Board.
The day ended with the Haringey Community Impact Awards, where there were several award categories including Outstanding Community Organisation of the Year, which was nominated by those in attendance, and was won by Sewn Together.
