Public Voice CIC is pleased to announce the appointment of
Ian Adams as its new Chair from January 2024.
Ian brings with him substantial board governance, policy and communications experience, working closely with national and local policymakers to create a fairer society through delivering opportunities to promote social justice.
Ian has been employed by NHS Resolution, the legal arm of the NHS, since 2016, where today he is Director of Policy, Strategy and Communications, championing the involvement of patients and frontline staff in improving patient safety in the health service. Previous roles include Director of Communications and Patient and Public Engagement for NHS North West London Clinical Commissioning Groups.
Ian will replace Sharon Grant OBE, who has led the Public Voice Board as Independent Chair since 2017, playing a key role in the direction, growth, and success of the organisation. Sharon will continue in her roles as Chair for Healthwatch Haringey and Haringey Circle.
Departing Chair, Sharon Grant OBE, said: “The role of Public Voice in representing the views of residents and service users has never been more important, and I’m pleased that Ian will bring his considerable experience to leading the organisation. He will be welcomed too by our sizable team with the expertise in community engagement that is now so much in demand by local authorities and health care stakeholders.”
Ian is passionate about promoting social justice and protecting human rights through his other trustee roles at Amnesty International UK, Single Homeless Project, and Age UK Westminster. He was also an elected councillor at Westminster City Council between 2002 and 2022.
Ian Adams, new Chair of Public Voice, said: “I’m excited to be joining Public Voice at such a critical time for local communities, when stretched public sector budgets mean it’s never been more essential to place the views and experiences of communities at the heart of designing and delivering local services.”
“Sharon leaves a tremendous legacy as outgoing Chair and I’d like to thank her on behalf of the Board for her drive and determination in leading Public Voice. As incoming Chair, I’m looking forward to working closely with other trustees and our team of dedicated staff and local stakeholders to deliver on our ambitious growth plans by bringing the expertise of Public Voice around user engagement to even more local communities.”
