With the help of clients, and service evaluator Dr Andrew Rogers, Cancer Community Links set about co-creating a set of wonderful and true-to-life characters, and a basic story line, before commissioning what is a truly engaging animation. It is a great way to show how and why the service works.

Cancer Community Links is a pilot social prescribing service currently funded by the North Central London Cancer Alliance and Integrated Care Board, and delivered by Public Voice. It connects people living with or beyond cancer to information and support in the community. Its work is currently focused on the areas of Haringey in need of the most support.

Cancer Community Links works with GP surgeries to approach eligible patients, proactively inviting them to use the service without the need for referral.

The service has helped more than 200 people living with or beyond cancer over the course of the pilot and additionally runs Cancer Study Days for social prescribers.

Zoe Douglas, Cancer Community Links Manager, said: “We are delighted with the animation. The amazing ideas of our clients really shine through as does the holistic nature of the service, and its core value of “mattering” – the idea that the client and their needs matter greatly and foremost.”

The animation was created by Cut The Mustard, a 2D animation studio based in Norwich.

Cancer Community Links is seeking to evolve and, as such, is always open to new collaborations. We would like to invite organisations who have an interest in supporting clients through their cancer journeys to get in touch with us at: info@publicvoice.london
